Hook up a box to go between your computer and monitor/speakers, and it wirelessly sends the signal to a receiver hooked up to your computer. But it's not that simple. The glowing reviews you see here were either written by employees of Grandtec, or by people with better luck than me.
First of all, there is a nice passthrough cable for your monitor. One end hooks up to the transmitter, and the other end hooks up to your video card, but you can also hook up your monitor to it, hence the term passthrough. However, having this installed makes your screen blurry, even when the transmitter is off. Second, there is no passthrough for your speakers. You have to reroute your sound to the unit; you cannot hook speakers up. I have an amp hooked up to my soundcard, so I merely hooked the GWB-4000 up through the headphone jack of my amp, so I got the passthrough anyway.
So I got it hooked up on both ends. The first problem I ran into was I got no video. The booklet says it supports 1280x1024. This is a lie. So I went down to 1024x768. I only saw the upper/left 75% of the screen, and that's in zoom-out mode. I had to go down to 800x600 to get it to display right. I can't work in 800x600 with everything blurry! And it worked, but only just barely. There were squiggly vertical lines dancing around the screen, as if the transmission wasn't clear. The transmitter and receiver were 50 feet away, around a corner. The unit operates on 2.4GHz. So does my cordless phone, and the range is much greater than that. I have no doubt the signal was fine. I blame the unit for the errors, possibly for the same reason my screen was blurry.
Testing it, I first started the first Deus Ex game. The intro movie has forced subtitles, which did not display, telling me that I was only looking at the top. It sort of stretched it, and pushed the bottom down. When the game started, the tool belt (bottom of the screen) was gone. I loaded a Divx movie with Ac3 audio, and the sound was terribly quiet. The video resolution was fine, but the aforementioned squiggly lines made the movie unwatchable.
I do not mean to accuse the other reviewers of dishonesty, but this device is no good. I can only guess at why theirs worked. Perhaps a Mac does video differently, or maybe they used a PC with an ATI graphics card. I have a PC with an nVidia graphics card. But I don't think what the computer is running is at issue, I believe the GWB-4000 unit itself is faulty.
As always, Amazon is a brilliant place to shop, they had it here very quickly although I selected the free shipping, and the return process has so far been painless. UPS is picking it up tomorrow or the next day. This has not affected my solid faith in Amazon, only in this product. Potential buyers should note that Best Buy and CompUSA will not stock this item. I originally saw this item on CompUSA's web site. I should have been warned when I learned they would not stock it in their retail stores, only the web site. I am, however, glad I purchased it from Amazon.com and not CompUSA.com.
Bottom line: Avoid it like the plague.

(More customer reviews)The product is very easy to connect, there is no software to install. I actually use it for viewing my surveillance cameras via a KVM Switch to my surveillance console and PC. The KVM VGA cord plugs into my transmitter box, then another VGA cord (provided by the PCTV Sender) plugs from the Transmitter to my survellance console. Luckily the PCTV Sender allows you to adjust the monitor settings because the 2nd monitor is NOT the the same dimensions (not wide screen like the original monitor) so that allowed me to adjust the the 2nd monitor to enhance my viewing pleasure.
However, because I have a wireless internet router w/ 2.4 GHz I immediately drop wireless internet signal on my laptop as soon as I plug in the PCTV Sender. Both wireless signals conflict with each other, so I actually removed the PCTV Sender antenna (which is detachable) and use a piece of aluminum foil in place of it and both wireless internet and PCTV sender can co-exist. Both devices actually sit in the same room. The 2nd monitor is about 20 ft away and catches great...with foil. LOL

(More customer reviews)Representing a fairly large school district, we considered buying this product to use with our tablet pc's and mounted projectors. The first product we tried (PC2TV) did not even come close the features and quality of this product. Their solution uses wi-fi (802.11G) standard to connect which is very slow in comparison and interferes with our regular network traffic. When you have a lab with 30+ wireless tablets, you cannot spare the bandwidth for the pc2tv device. The IOGEAR product fixes all that.
Using the new Wireless USB standard (haven't seen another device using this tech yet it's so new) it has 9 times the bandwidth of wi-fi (480Mbps). What's that means, is that it can do really high resolutions and be very smooth. I was playing a standard DVD, at 1680X1080 resolution, and boy is it smooth. It does drop a frame here and there, but compared to the pc2tv device, there simply is no comparison.
Tested on Vista. Once the driver is installed, I can plug in the dongle to any usb port and it automatically connects and extends my desktop. To change to clone mode or resolutions, all you have to do right click an icon near the clock (system tray) and pick it. Changing USB ports does not require a driver reinstallation.
The dongle and the device come pre-associated, so you don't have to worry about the device in the next room interfering. However, if you want to connect to multiple devices, so far the only way is to briefly connect your laptop to the device using the supplied mini usb cable. Hopefully they will have a wireless method to do this in the future.

First off the good. This product does transmit wireless sound and video to your home TV. Works great, pictures good quality, not great, but that could be because my TV is old, I'll know for sure this week when i get my New 42' in.
The bad: Distance is a real issue, you can't get the reciever to far away from the transmitter or you get bad video quality with many breaks in the feed. If your in another room, you can forget about it. The devices themselfs feel very cheap, and if you use any type of wireless internet, forget this product. The wireless net interferes with this product and you done get ANY video.
This does seem to work well when you've got line of sight from pc to tv, my max distance is at about 10 foot, then i run outta room . Works good, but could have been a great product.

It is the same gadget as one called Warpia except the plastic case is white. It worked great streaming laptop to TV downstairs so I bought it for my second TV upstairs. The video can be choppy if used with Atom based netbook, but it works flawlessly with the core 2 duo based HP notebook. It uses the processor horsepower for the video driver so the comp. must be strong enough to handle it. As long as it is used with the strong computer the video and audio will stream nicely to the TV. Even high def movies.

(More customer reviews)I have to say this item is just okay, certainly not great. Yes, the setup was pretty easy (even with the poor, hieroglyphic instructions), but the video quality is pretty low. Even though the box says "High Resolution Wireless PC to TV Converter," the video quality is definately NOT high res. It actually less than low res. I put my laptop through this, and was unable to read filenames or any writing on my HD TV with this. I ended up getting a VGA to VGA plug, and just plugging my laptop directly in to my TV (most flatscreens come with a VGA input port nowadays). The concept is good, and mostly works, but the quality needs to improve.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these units in March 2006 in response to my wife constantly changing room arrangements, and subsequently requiring that the TV work in an area that didn't have easy cable access. I looked at several units from other manufacturers, and actually bought one to try from Best Buy, which was a Leapfrog, I think. Testing that unit convinced me that the concept was sound, and I would have kept that unit except that it operated on 2.4 GHz, which caused interference every time the microwave was in use, or the telephone rang. My computer is hard wired into a network as I don't want to deal with the increased security requirements of wireless, and my phones work fine on 2.4 GHz, so I was looking for a solution, but with 5.8GHz.
I called RF-Link tech support, got all of my questions answered and placed the order through Amazon.
Product worked flawlessly for about six months and then crapped out. By crapping out, I mean that when unit was in an enclosed space where there was exessive heat buildup, the unit would stop working after about 10 minutes.
I contacted RF-Link tech support, and they promptly sent out a replacement unit, explaining that the motherboard had been completely redesigned, and therefore they sent me new units as well as new power supplies. The replacement units have worked flawlessly.
Although I was upset at having to go through the return/RMA process and the delay in using the product until thr replacement was received, everything is fine now. I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want the expense of paying to install cable outlets everywhere.
And for those who are concerned about 5.8 GHz interference, with phones, 6.0GHz phones are already available, so no future compatability issues there either.
