Ramsey FM10C FM Stereo Transmitter Kit Review

Ramsey FM10C FM Stereo Transmitter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I built one of these from a kit. They are easy to solder and build. Much better than the CC Crane transmitter, which is the second best choice. It is completely in a different class than the FM transmitters you buy at mass merchandise chains.
There are FCC regulations limiting power of FM transmitters. What I was surprised at given the regulations was the variation in quality.
This is the BEST FM transmitter I could find. I also own the CC Crane FM transmitter which is OK, but significantly below this one in quality. I would not buy a FM transmitter other than one of these two.
FM transmitters are handy for rebroadcasting streaming audio from a computer, TV, or you music collection throughout the house. They work much better in areas with few FM stations. You do need a clear channel to broadcast the FM signal.

That's right, we said STEREO! Just connect a cassette deck, CD player or mixer panel to the FM10C's line level inputs and you're on-the-air with a school, dorm, camp, home, church or neighborhood FM station! Here's a great entry-level kit that will teach the basics of FM Broadcast Transmission while finding many uses around the home or dorm room. The FM10C has plenty of power to cover your home, back yard, or city block. Our manual goes into great detail outlining all the aspects of antennas, transmitting range and the FCC rules and regulations. You'll be amazed at the exceptional audio quality of the FM10C. Tunes through the entire 88-108MHz band in three separate ranges with a tuned LC circuit. Re-broadcast your favorite music commercial free and with the dynamic range the musician intended, without all that nasty compression the big boys use to make their station sound louder than the competition. Compression produces a noticeably muddier and less dynamic sound. The unit runs on internal 9V battery, external power from 5 to 15 VDC, or an optional 120 VAC adapter (model FMAC) is also available. Includes the matching case & knob set for a professional finished look. Case size 5"W x 1 1/2"H x 5 1/4"D(Note: The FM10C is a do-it-yourself learning kit that you assemble. The end user is responsible for complying with all FCC rules & regulations within the US, or any regulations of their respective governing body)

I purchased this unit from eLoofa Imports a few weeks ago, and I simply love it! Simple all-in-one package, easy to set-up, totally love the functions.
The main difference between these units and the others out there is that you can record all four cameras at the same time... I guess the other DVR systems can only record one camera at a time.. I was pleasantly surprised with this units' real time capabilities and quality of video and audio. Good product for everyone, thanks!

Panasonic SC-BT730 Blu-ray DiscTM 5.1 Home Theater System Review

Panasonic SC-BT730 Blu-ray DiscTM 5.1 Home Theater System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my first blu-ray all in one home theater system. Before this i have used to Denon 2310 with Mirage Nanostat speakers.
Since wanted to buy a blu-ray and a simple wireless (primary factor for me) home theater system i went with this after reading very few review at that time.
You be the judge before you buy it after reading this review.
The things i liked:
-------------------
#1 - Wireless speaker.
Being staying at a rental house and changing my residence every year had forced me to look for wireless and it was right out of the box in this one.
#2 - Good customer support
After i hooked up all teh speakers, i did not get any sound from my wireless unit. Called the customer service. The great thing was, he knew what i was asking about and he helped me to trouble shoot and finally fixed the problem. Looks like there is a sequence to boot up the blu-ray player and wireless which i did not follow. That was easy.
#3 - You tube
Work liked a charm. No buffering issues. It was real good. (Not sure whether i can connect a keyboard in anyway to make the typing faster....any ideas????)
#4 - iPod dock
Another primary deciding factor for me.
#5 - ARC
Works well with my TV (Sharp 46LE810UN). As soon as i turn on the home theater, audio shuts off in the TV and comes from home theater (Though i like my TV audio much better when watching talk shows)
#6 - All in one remote
The things i did not like:
--------------------------
#1 - Wires all over:
There are no video pass through. Though i knew this earlier i thought it would be okay. But, this made me to run wires btn many systems. From cable box to TV, then from TV Audio out to Home theater. Wii is connected directly to the TV. iPod video cables to TV.
#2 - Lip sync issue with iPod (video)
If you play iPod video, you will NOT get the output in HDMI cable. You will have to use separate video cable for that. Another set of wires.
So, i connected the iPod through composite video and now what? The audio and video is out of sync (lip sync) issue.
#3 - Not enough power output:
I seriously doubt whether this is a 1000W system. The mirage nanastat is around 600w and it sounds way better than what Panasonic. Again, i do not want to compare apples with oranges. Cost may be the deciding factor in this case ($1,200 vs $500)
#4 Poor FM:
Very weak FM output. You will have to find a good spot to keep the FM antenna (just a wire) in order to get a very normal reception. I covered every sq. inch to get a good audio signal but i never got good reception.
#5 Simulated sound not from all speakers:
It is mentioned that we will get simulated sound when 2 channel audio inputs is given. But, for some reason my center speaker (which i consider as critical) did not get any sound at all. That was a strange one.
#6 Wireless speakers
Again, the quality of the sound is good. But, definitly not enough if you have a bigger room.
#7 Proprietary speaker wire
If you have already wired your house, you will have to think again before you buy this. This unit uses proprietary speaker wire and connections. Though the length of the wires are enough for my home with currect setup, this is a serious restriction if i want to use it at bigger houses. Other nice to haves:
#1 - Blutooth receiver - If there is a option to sync any blu tooth device with receiver, it would have been nice.
#2 - Shutting off wireless speaker using remote - I am really not sure whether this is a missing option or i did not explore it yet. I am 99% positive that we cannot shut off the wireless unit with remote. Which mean, if you really conscious about wasting power, you need to add this into your check list before you go to bed.
Other concerns:
If for some reason the wireless unit is not working (one day it is going to happen), then you have no way to use the rear speakers with wires directly running to the home theater.

Kensington 33169 Digital FM Radio and Transmitter for iPods Review

Kensington 33169 Digital FM Radio and Transmitter for iPods
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit does both: receives FM as a radio, and transmits FM to your radio. Just purchased this yesterday, so I don't have good numbers on how long it takes to drain the iPod's battery. I do know that you can get a solid 4 hours at least. This unit does a fantastic job of transmitting my iPod selections to my FM stereo radio. I can take the iPod 30 metres away, around the house, and the music continues without interruption. I've heard that some of the FM transmitter systems didn't have much of a range, and was pleasantly surprised to find that this one is quite good.
For FM reception - you stick your headphones into the unit itself, rather than into the iPod's headphone jack - so I presume that it is just using the iPod as a power source rather than anything particularly intelligent.
Not needing to buy two different units seems like a good idea to me.
The one downside is that there is no way to charge the iPod while the Kensington unit is connected, whereas some of the FM transmitter-only systems can be plugged into car power supplies.

You've never heard sound this great from an FM transmitter this small before. What's more, The Kensington 33169 Digital FM Radio and Transmitter for iPods not only plays your iPod wirelessly through any FM stereo--including a car stereo, home stereo, or clock radio--so you can listen to your favorite songs without headphones, it also lets you listen to your favorite FM radio stations through your iPod as well.
This unique 2-in-1 transmitter and radio includes such features as ClearFM circuitry for richer lows, crisper highs, and better stereo separation, and a digital display on the tuner that lets you select any available FM frequency for either reception or transmission. This unit's backlit digital display is easy to read without having to strain your eyes, while its four programmable buttons let you lock in your favorite stations with pre-sets. Best of all, the unit requires no cables, wires, or software, so playing your favorite iPod tunes on your home or car stereo, and listening to your favorite radio stations with your iPod is as easy as 1-2-3.
Compatible with any iPod with a dock connector--including the iPod nano 1G, iPod nano 2G, iPod mini, iPod 3G, iPod 4G (Click Wheel), iPod color, and iPod 5G/5.5G Video--the Kensington digital FM radio and transmitter is backed by Kensington's 1-year warranty.

Samsung SWA-5000 Wireless Receiver Review

Samsung SWA-5000 Wireless Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me get to the point:
This product is not compatible with anything that would work with a SWA-4000 or SWA-4100.
The "TX CARD", which is a card shaped transmitter, is a completely different shape and size.
I contacted Samsung and was told the opposite before making this purchase. This item does not even appear on Samsung's website.
Their 4000 series of wireless adaptors has been completely discontinued, even though the theater systems that require it are commonly sold (including here, I just bought one from Amazon).
I understand that Samsung is constantly improving their products and therefore will often outdo their recent efforts. There's always going to be a new version coming out. That's basically why I like the brand. Their TV and Surround sound systems I just hooked up are simply perfect. I love them. However, the incompatibility does not seem to stem from technological reasons. The TX card housings and different... the electronics (as far as I can see) are similar. The pinouts appear to be the same. The card itself is a relatively simple device, too.
But mostly, they should be prepared for this question. The problem should be discussed on their website. They are selling a large amount of 'wireless ready' gear that they no longer support, so they should have been proactive on info.
And they should consider being more consistent with their TX Cards, because it's not a very complicated card and Sony seems to have no problems with this. I would have bought a Bravia TV and Receiver had I known Samsung's 'Wireless ready' claims were notional at best. And of course, in several months or a couple years, this unit will not work with Samsung's next lineup, the 6000 series or whatever it is named. Forcing you to replace more equipment, for no good reason.
I had to buy a 'rocketfish' universal wireless sound adaptor, which does not function nearly as seamlessly as this would have. I do somewhat fault Samsung for not being backwards compatible with a very similar device. Or at least selling an adaptor. But most of my frustration is that, when asked, their staff were giving me the wrong information.
As for quality, the device is attractive, well built, and has a strong wattage for the speakers. I heard a nearly identical Samsung unit at a family member's house and it sounds great. I am very sure it would be a great addition to your theater system if your system specifically calls for the SWA-5000. No matter what you hear from Samsung or a sales representative at a store, this unit will not work with the SWA-4000 compatibles.
This really spoiled an awesome event of hooking up a beautiful TV and hearing a fantastic HT 1250 5.1 system. Shucks.

Remote Control Extender 418MHZ Review

Remote Control Extender 418MHZ
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased two of these units, one on each frequency, to address a situation where IR remote control of two TV set ups in adjacent rooms visible to each other was causing unintended operation. By "blinding" the IR sensors after attaching the IR heads from the RF extenders it did solve the problem.
The caveats are:
- Don't expect easy access to technical support from the company. Emails go totally unanswered. Phone messages left go unanswered. If you are lucky enough, however, to actually reach someone on the phone when you call, Bob in my case (once), you can get help.
- I could not make the RF extender work to turn on or off a Motorola DCT-700 cable box. In fact with the remote supplied by cable company it would not work at all. (What made this really strange is that the incredible sensitivity of the IR control of the DCT-700 is the reason I had the problem I was trying to solve!) When I substituted a Logitech Harmony remote I was able to easily control the cable box, but still not the on-off function on a reliable basis. (I solved the problem by leaving the cable box on all the time). When I did talk to Bob he acknowledged that they had issues with some cable boxes - something to do with IR pulse length - and that they have an updated version of the receiver designated with a "+" that may address the issue. He offered a swap out if I called and asked for this, but as I could never reach him again I did not pursue this approach.
- Be very careful if you do buy units on the two different frequencies. While the battery sized transmitters are color coded, the two receivers look identical in EVERY way right down to the model number and FCC designation. (I have no idea how they manage to keep these sorted out in their own operations!) After getting them mixed up a few times, I ended up using adhesive labels on each receiver to identify them.
- In most set ups you will need more than the single IR extender head included in the package. An optional 3-head cable costs extra.
- The receiver has 3 settings. The instructions indicate that some equipment may work better, or only, with one of the settings. As such it is quite possible that you could end up with a single RF extender receiver not being able to control all your gear. As the most likely role for this kind of unit will be to control many boxes inside a closed cabinet, this restriction could be an issue, and require you to buy 2 units for the same system. (I did not run into this as I used the extender ONLY for the cable box. I used the normal IR for the TVs as they were different models and didn't cross impact each other.)
- As noted in the instructions the location of the battery like transmitter in a remote that uses multiple batteries can be critical, and requires trial and error.
- The nature of the design means that you do need to swap the rechargeable batteries on a regular basis. The unit comes supplied with two and the receiver charges the one not in use. The challenge is that there is no indication that the batteries need swapped, other than when the remote no longer works. This is a minor inconvenience, but in a unit with this price tag a more elegant approach would have been nice. (I don't yet have experience of the battery life in the Harmony remotes.)
Overall, as noted in other reviews I have read, this is a really innovative and neat concept, that when needed in the kind of situation I was in and others, is a great solution. However the actual implementation, and particularly the virtually non-existent support, leave a bit to be desired so it can't be recommended without reservation. Expect to spend quite a bit of time getting things working reliably.
Using one of the top-end Harmony remotes with RF capability built-in is almost certainly a more elegant solution to most problems addressed by this unit, albeit a more expensive approach.

The All Around the House remote extender is unlike anything else on the market. It allows you to control all your equipment from anywhere in you home, up to 100 feet*, using your current remote. Unlike other bulky remote extenders that attach to the front of a remote, or IR to RF base stations, this one fits in the battery compartment. Small and unobtrusive, you will never know it's there. It doesn't matter where you are in your home; in the living room with the equipment, in the master bedroom, or outside, you have total control. Installation could not be easier, simply remove one of the batteries from your remote and replace it with the RF transmitter and 1.5V mini battery, hook up the receiver base, attach the IR blaster and you are done. You now have a remote that does both IR and RF for a fraction of the cost of other RF systems. System includes: RF transmitter, (2) mini AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, AA adaptor sleeve, RF base station with an integrated charging station and IR blaster. Two RF kits, with different frequencies, are required for two separate remote controls to be used at two different component locations without interference. *RF range will very depending upon the layout and construction of your home. Note: The RF signals sent from the transmitter will not directly control SAT receivers or other A/V equipment which receive RF signals. The RF transmitter operates on a different frequency, 418MHz, and will only "talk" to the RF base station.

Panasonic DVD-LX97 Portable DVD Player Review

Panasonic DVD-LX97 Portable DVD Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this specifically because it has a long battery life. We bought this (for our 2 year old) to take on an overseas (10 hour) flight home for Christmas. While the description says the battery lasts 10 hours, reading the manual you will see that it lasts 10 hours when the LCD screen is on (-5) (lowest), 7-8 hours on (0), and 5 hours on (+5) (brightest). We found that the 0 setting was plenty light for the plane rides, and we had no issues with battery length. We watched a total of 4 movies on the plane, and had no issue with the battery. We had the volume up (as our son is not fond of headphones)and we could hear clearly over all the noise on the plane. People were even asking us to turn the volume down! It was wonderful to keep us and our little one occupied on such a long flight! On the plane ride home, my husband and I watched a movie together with the headphones, thanks to the dual headphone jacks.
I LOVE that this DVD player comes with AC adapter, and we used this to watch a movie at the airport while waiting for our connection. We also used it to re-charge the battery to full while waiting for our connection. The power is dual voltage which makes it a plus if you are traveling or living overseas. You can play a movie right out of the box using the AC adapter.
The thing I like most is that no matter what angle you look at the screen, you can still see the picture clearly. Also the screen pivots, making for easy viewing at any angle. We used the cables to plug it into a TV and the picture/sound was great here as well. We also used it in the car, and the car adapter meant that we did not have to fuss with the battery. The screen is bright and big, and picture is clear and sharp.
I was hesitant to buy this product, because we have had a lot of trouble with our Panasonic DVD camcorder. This was the DVD player with the longest battery life I could find, and it is well worth the price. This product has gotten a lot of use in the last month, and no problems. I would recommend this to anyone! It is a great player and has exceeded my expectations. I am so happy with this purchase!

Xovision GX1571D Overhead Monitor With Built-In DVD Player Review

Xovision GX1571D Overhead Monitor With Built-In DVD Player
Average Reviews:

I received this item thinking I would install it. Opening the box, I realized the task was over my head, so I purchased the InstallerNet card and had it professionally installed. Very happy with the service of the installer - took less than 2 hours and they did a very clean, neat install.
A bit disappointed that the RCA jacks for input are NOT mounted on the exterior of the unit. They are part of the wiring harness and are hidden. To use them, they either need to be mounted hanging out of the edge of the unit (between the unit and the headliner) or run to some kind of hard mount somewhere in the vehicle using some form of extension. Not a show stopper, but it limits my boys' ability to use a gaming system with the monitor.
I used the DVD player once with no issues; however, since the first use, the monitor has had discontinuity lines in it and is worthless for viewing. I am currently contacting the seller to exchange the unit for another and hope this is unique to this particular unit. I will update once I am through with the process.
UPDATE: I contacted the seller (Discounts Jungle) and asked to exchange the unit. They balked at first due to the fact that I contacted them after 30 days although it was actually day 29 from delivery. They insisted I take it back to the installer first and if they verified the install was correct, they would exchange it. It took a little over a week to get back into the installer's shop, but they did get a look at it and verified it was in fact a bad unit, not the install. I called the seller again and once again they balked at a return saying I was way over 30 days now. The person on the phone said she would talk to her manager and call me back. Later the same day, she did call back and gave me the plan - I had to pay to ship it back and include a check to ship the new unit, but they would exchange it. I had to unistall it myself (and ultimately install the new unit or pay for a new install!!). Over all, I am OK with this, but a bit unhappy that I had to pay for shipping a faulty unit back to the seller even though I contacted them first within their return period.
So, how does this unit work - quite well! My boys are happy (the unit is a bit big for a crew cab truck, but they don't mind) and since the only way to hear the unit is with the headphones, I am happy. (NOTE - there is no external speaker on the unit - you MUST buy the wireless headphones to listen).

iLuv I701 Digital FM Radio Transmitter (White) Review

iLuv I701 Digital FM Radio Transmitter (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
iLuv is relatively small and thin. Easy to carry around, will fit almost anywhere. Uses standard 3.5mm stereo audio connector. It is in no way iPod specific. I guess it has "i" in the name because every cool device these days has "i" in the name. You can use iLuv with anything. Laptops, MP3 players, Walkmans, CD players, anything standard. And with iPod too. Of course, if your device has non-standard connector (most mobile phones for example) you are out of luck.
It uses AAA batteries, which is not really a good thing. However, given that device is too thin for AA batteries, I'm not going to hold it against it. BTW, may I suggest rechargeables to everybody who bitches about price of AAA batteries. There is a 3V connector on it, so you don't need batteries if you have 12V to 3V adapter for car. I just got iLuv today, so can't really comment on battery life. It's been turned on for the whole afternoon with used batteries (that I pulled out of my old FM transmitter), and it still works.
It covers the full FM frequency range in 0.1 MHz increments. You can set it to virtually any unused FM slot. As far as I can tell, it stays at the dialed frequency and doesn't "pollute" reception of nearby stations (translated, your neighbors will not hate you). However, the range is very limited. You probably want to keep it no more than 10 feet or so from the antenna of your radio. If you are looking into buying it for use in car, this is not a problem. Tested. I placed it at the worst position in car, furthers away from antenna, and the sound quality was still good. If you want to transmit to the room on the other end of a house, you'll be very disappointed. It simply doesn't have enough juice for that.
There's some audible white noise when there's no input signal, but not any worse than some other devices I had in my hands. Don't expect miracles from something in this price range. If you'll be using it in a car (use most folks are buying this devices for), don't worry about it at all. Even if you have very quiet car, you won't notice this at all. On the other hand, if you are audio perfectionist, you'll probably have to spend much more money for something better.
Conclusion. iLuv is no worse then what I read in reviews for most other FM transmitters. It is way better then my old Radio Shack branded one.

Sony LAV Microphone w/Bodypack Transmitter & Portable Wireless UHF Receiver (CH 66-69) Review

Sony LAV Microphone w/Bodypack Transmitter and Portable Wireless UHF Receiver (CH 66-69)
Average Reviews:

I purchased this microphone just prior to taking off on a two-week video shoot in SE Asia. I was a bit apprehensive about relying so heavily on a mic about which I wasn't able to get much information before purchasing. After having used the mic quite extensively for a couple of weeks, I can now breathe a sigh of relief and report that overall this is a very good microphone for the price. Its selection of frequencies and other user-changeable features are good, though its menu system is not intuitive and requires keeping the manual close by.
My main criticism is its cheap plastic construction, typical with Sony products at this price point. It only took a few days to break the "foot" on the shoe mount.
Overall, I am relatively happy with this purchase and would recommend this mic, but I would also strongly recommend a good hard case in which to store it (no case is included).

The Sony UWP Series Bodypack Transmitter with Omni-Directional Lavalier Mic for the UWP-C1 Wireless System comes supplied with an omni-directional lavalier microphone. This bodypack transmitter is ideally suited for news gathering, interviews, talk shows and conferences. Key to achieving stable transmission & reception is the use of a stable carrier signal to avoid interference with other frequency channels & to allow the selection of a preferred channel from multiple frequencies. The UWP series achieves this by using a UHF Phase Locked Loop frequency synthesized system, which provides the use of accurate carrier signal frequencies. This system is used in both the transmitter & tuners, so that a stable carrier is gene rated at the transmitter & accurately tuned in at the tuner. This PLL-controlled system provides highly stable, user-selectable frequencies in increments of 125 kHz. When operating a wireless microphone system, it is essential that the tuner not pick up carrier signals transmitted from other systems. In order to avoid this, the UWP series transmitters transmit a 32 kHz pilot-tone signal along with the audio signal. The squelch circuit of the UWP series tuners recognizes this tone signal and output the audio signal only when this tone signal is received. RF power output -30mW or 5mW (selectable) Audio attenuator adjustment range -0 to 21 dB (in 3 dB steps) Local oscillators -Crystal-controlled PLL synthesizer Signal-to-noise ratio -60 dB or more Power requirements -DC 3.0V (2 AA-size alkaline batteries) Antenna -1/4 wave length wire Pilot tone signal -32 kHz Frequency response -50 Hz to 18 kHz (typical) Audio input level -60 dBV (at 0 dB attentuator level) Audio input connector -3.5 mm (5/32 inch) diameter 3-pole mini jack Battery life -Approximately 6 hours with Sony AA-size alkaline batteries at 30mW output Unit Dimensions -Width 2 1/2 x Height 4 x Depth

This would be much better without the radio in it.
I made a mistake thinking it was without one.
The radio causes too much interference and cuts off any TV you're listening to.
They are great for the computer though and one plus is that no battery is needed if you connect with the included cords instead wireless.
I use them on my laptop.

SIRIUS Stratus 4 Plug-and-Play Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit Review

Display is easy to read. Setup was very easy. Sound quality is good (not as good as my iPod). Wish it had a "scan" option to autoplay a few seconds from each channel. Well worth the $40 I paid for it on Amazon. Overall I am very happy.
After contacting customer service I learned that the Sirius Customer Service Database has all account passwords available in plain text for CS reps to read and have access to. It is unacceptable that a modern technology company would not safeguard customer passwords from the eyes of employees, making my password vulnerable to theft by an unhappy employee, contractor, hacker or anyone else who could gain access to Sirius CS database records. Too many companies have been forced to disclose the theft of customer data due to human error and Sirius is leaving the door wide open to a future security breach. My warning: If you use Sirius, use a unique username and password during account step to safeguard your identity and confidential account info.

One of Sirius' easiest to use and most affordable receivers, the Sirius Stratus 4 is a must for satellite radio fans who want a less-expensive entry into the satellite radio market. Just like other Sirius-compatible receivers, the Stratus 4 offers a large, easy-to-read display and an intuitive front control panel--a 2.5-inch, 3-line display, to be exact. But for people who spend a lot of time in the car, the Stratus 4 is designed to seamlessly complement your driving routine thanks to the bundled car kit.
As an added convenience, the Stratus 4 supports Sirius' universal docking architecture for easy compatibility with other Sirius accessories and docks in other vehicles and in the house. An intuitive three-line display tells you the channel name and number, artist name, and song title. The receiver also lets you program up to 10 presets of your favorite streams, as well as search by channel name and music category. And with a quick press of the one-touch jump button, you can instantly switch between the traffic and weather reports for your city or any of the other music, news, or entertainment channels. Other programming details include direct station tuning via the numeric buttons and a channel lock option.
The Stratus 4 also includes a built-in FM transmitter that sends Sirius radio programming to your vehicle's FM tuner, so you don't have to make a direct connection to enjoy the full array of channels. Simply set an empty FM frequency on your radio and tune the Stratus 4 to the same frequency. The transmitter also works with other FM tuners, such as the one on your home stereo, but is easily paired with the car thanks to the vehicle kit, which includes everything you need for listening to Sirius while driving. Other features include a real-time clock, a parental lock function that restricts listening to locked channels, and large easy to use buttons. The Stratus 4 measures just 9.5 x 7.5 x 3 inches.
About Sirius Sirius Satellite Radio delivers more than 130 channels of music and programming via crystal clear direct satellite feed. In addition to 69 channels of commercial free music listening, Sirius also delivers 65 channels of sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, and weather forecasts. Sirius--the official satellite radio partner of the NFL, NASCAR, and NBA--broadcasts live play-by-play games of the NFL and NBA, as well as live NASCAR races. This cable made a major improvement in signal strength. Better than my old rg6.

Ultra Low Loss Cable is designed to transmit the maximum signal to your antennas. 1/2 inch LMR-400 cable meets Military Specifications with silver foil and silver coated copper conductors for less signal loss in runs up to 200 feet.. In this high quality cable, the dimensions and spacing of the conductors are uniform. Any abrupt change in the spacing of the two conductors along the cable tends to reflect radio frequency power back toward the source, causing a condition called standing waves, reducing the amount and quality of the transmitted power. To hold the shield at a uniform distance from the central conductor, the space between the two is filled with a dielectric designed to maintain the proper spacing between conductor and shielding to assure maximum signal transmission and lowest loss. You should allow three inches of cable to make a 90 degree turn in your runs without causing signal loss. The connectors used with the coax must also hold the correct spacing through the body of the connector to avoid signal loss. The transmission of energy in the line occurs totally through the dielectric inside the cable between the conductors. This shielded cable can be bent and moderately twisted without negative effects, and can be strapped to conductive supports without inducing signal interference.

GE 51140 Indoor Outlet Adapter, Smart Remote Plus Receiver, White Review

GE 51140 Indoor Outlet Adapter, Smart Remote Plus Receiver, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a non-working switch in my newly purchased condo. It was terribly annoying to walk into the room, hit the switch and have nothing happen. And before you think of telling me to check the outlets - I did. No outlets worked with the switch either. It simply was there for show only - no wires were connected. After asking some home repair people, I learned that adding wiring after the fact was a large project. This switch solved the problem very inexpensively and with no workmen - only a screwdriver, a wire cutter and about 10 minutes of my time. I did get a friend with a voltage-tester to make sure there was nothing live in the wires. Then I removed the old switch by unscrewing the switch plate and cutting the dead wires. This little switch fit right where the bad one was.
A note to GE: 5 minutes of the 10 was spent opening the very hard plastic these products were packaged in. Whoever invented that stronger-than-steel, environmentally unfriendly plastic should be taken out to the woodshed and SHOT!
The second part of this was even easier. I plugged the receptor into an open outlet, plugged a lamp into that and made sure the numbers agreed on the two devices (so they could talk). And Voila! It worked the very first time! I also found the directions easy to follow, which is rare these days.
This was so much fun, I started getting ideas. I now have a switch upstairs that turns on a light in the kitchen, so I can turn it on at night if I decide to go down for a snack and don't want to turn on the hall light. I have a list of other things I want to switch from unusual places. It works even if there is a chair in the way - totally cool!!!
I'm always showing it off, because I feel so smart for solving the problem myself for practically no money. I can't think of anything (other than the package) I didn't absolutely love! It was the perfect solution!

Ultimate Wireless Dos/linux/macmsd/pwr/95/98/w2k/wme/nt Grandtech Review

You would think this would be a good thing. Hook up a box to go between your computer and monitor/speakers, and it wirelessly sends the signal to a receiver hooked up to your computer. But it's not that simple. The glowing reviews you see here were either written by employees of Grandtec, or by people with better luck than me.
First of all, there is a nice passthrough cable for your monitor. One end hooks up to the transmitter, and the other end hooks up to your video card, but you can also hook up your monitor to it, hence the term passthrough. However, having this installed makes your screen blurry, even when the transmitter is off. Second, there is no passthrough for your speakers. You have to reroute your sound to the unit; you cannot hook speakers up. I have an amp hooked up to my soundcard, so I merely hooked the GWB-4000 up through the headphone jack of my amp, so I got the passthrough anyway.
So I got it hooked up on both ends. The first problem I ran into was I got no video. The booklet says it supports 1280x1024. This is a lie. So I went down to 1024x768. I only saw the upper/left 75% of the screen, and that's in zoom-out mode. I had to go down to 800x600 to get it to display right. I can't work in 800x600 with everything blurry! And it worked, but only just barely. There were squiggly vertical lines dancing around the screen, as if the transmission wasn't clear. The transmitter and receiver were 50 feet away, around a corner. The unit operates on 2.4GHz. So does my cordless phone, and the range is much greater than that. I have no doubt the signal was fine. I blame the unit for the errors, possibly for the same reason my screen was blurry.
Testing it, I first started the first Deus Ex game. The intro movie has forced subtitles, which did not display, telling me that I was only looking at the top. It sort of stretched it, and pushed the bottom down. When the game started, the tool belt (bottom of the screen) was gone. I loaded a Divx movie with Ac3 audio, and the sound was terribly quiet. The video resolution was fine, but the aforementioned squiggly lines made the movie unwatchable.
I do not mean to accuse the other reviewers of dishonesty, but this device is no good. I can only guess at why theirs worked. Perhaps a Mac does video differently, or maybe they used a PC with an ATI graphics card. I have a PC with an nVidia graphics card. But I don't think what the computer is running is at issue, I believe the GWB-4000 unit itself is faulty.
As always, Amazon is a brilliant place to shop, they had it here very quickly although I selected the free shipping, and the return process has so far been painless. UPS is picking it up tomorrow or the next day. This has not affected my solid faith in Amazon, only in this product. Potential buyers should note that Best Buy and CompUSA will not stock this item. I originally saw this item on CompUSA's web site. I should have been warned when I learned they would not stock it in their retail stores, only the web site. I am, however, glad I purchased it from Amazon.com and not CompUSA.com.
Bottom line: Avoid it like the plague.
