This worked fine the first 2 times I used them but they just stopped working within the first week. Luckily I could send them back for a refund. They were really cheap feeling, the piece that goes over your ear is really thin plastic and they aren't very comfortable to wear for any extended amount of time. Also, the instruction book that came with it was hard to understand due to misspellings and errors. Definitely would not recommend these.

Creative Zen 32 GB Portable Media Player (Black) Review

Creative Zen 32 GB Portable Media Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great choice for those people who previously limited their flash players to workout duty, or only holding a small piece of their large music collection and having to change the music on it every so often. With a 16GB capacity most people can fit their entire collection on here without difficulty, and even have room for some videos.
First impressions of this player are very good. It is extremely appealing to the eye, everyone who sees it will ask about it. It is about the size of a credit card, just thicker (less than 1/2inch). The front is a very glossy black plastic that looks great until you touch it, instantly covering it with fingerprints :) The back is a rough, cheaper feeling black plastic. Overall it has a nice solid weight and feel to it, but not very heavy. This will easily fit in a pocket.
The 2.5" screen is absolutely gorgeous. Very bright with vivid colors. The viewing angle is very good, two people can easily look at the screen at the same time while watching a movie for example. The menus are all nicely animated and intuitive to navigate. The icons and text are big clear and easy to read.
One of the big perks to having so much capacity is plenty of room for videos. This was one of the first things I've tested as it was a big reason for my purchase. First of all it DOES play Amazon Unbox videos perfectly. Transferring files was very easy (just a few clicks) and very quick. The quality of the video was great as well. The max size of videos is apparently 320x240, I have not been able to get it to play anything larger than that. If the video is smaller (for example widescreen) you have the option of playing it at the correct aspect ratio, or fill the screen (stretched out). I've gotten it to play videos encoded in Xvid and WMV format. Xvid files were encoded with AutoGK, and the WMV files were encoded with Arcsoft MediaConverter. If you synchronize with Windows Media Player, you can put in *almost any* video file and it will automatically convert the file into WMV format and then transfer to the player. How long it takes to convert depends on the type of video you're encoding, how big the file is and of course the speed of your computer.
Music sounds very good on this player, but please... get rid of the stock headphones they are horrible. Using a decent pair of headphones makes a HUGE difference. The EQ options are OK, there are about a half dozen presets and a customizable EQ. The "Bass Boost" option just made it worse in my opinion, it just distorted the sound. Otherwise it is a very even and balanced sound, very similar to the Vision:M.
The FM radio has a whopping 32 presets and the reception is pretty good. Strong stations are in stereo, weaker ones come in mono. I haven't had a chance to test out the built-in mic.
I easily transferred music and playlists onto this player from Windows Media Player and MediaMonkey, as well as protected music (WMA) from Napster. Everything was very easy, usually just dragging and dropping. The speed of transfer is probably the fastest I've seen. I've used this player on XP Home and on Vista Premium 64-bit.
Regarding the SD cards. I think its only a slight inconvenience that the memory card media isn't directly integrated with the other content. Meaning if you have videos on the SD card you don't go to the "Video" menu where all the other videos are, you have to access them through the "Memory Card" menu. Once there, you browse through the file structure like normal. If you organize the content smartly on your cards you should have no problem. And really its a small price to pay for that feature. Currently SDHC cards are up to 16GB in capacity, meaning you could double the capacity and carry around 32GB worth of content in your pocket. Amazing. I tested a Kingston 512MB SD Card and a Kingston 2GB microSD card (with adapter of course) and they were recognized and played the content without difficulty.
A quick note about the firmware. Mine came with 1.10.05. When my player turns off, it really turns off. With newer firmwares when it turns off it goes into a sleep mode for a while before it finally turns all the way off. What that means is with the older firmware each time you turn it on it has to "boot" all over again, whereas with the newer firmware you get an "instant-on" at the expense of slightly reduced battery life (since it is asleep and not off). Something to consider before you decide to upgrade the firmware.

HP Remote IR receiver (paintbrush) - For use with Picasso remote control 5070-2584 Review

HP Remote IR receiver (paintbrush) - For use with Picasso remote control 5070-2584
Average Reviews:

I Have been using the 5070-2584 ir receiver (and the blaster cable 5188-6055) with my HP notebook. It's great. Just follow the windows media center setup instructions and you'll have a dvr. It works with any provider's settop box. I have Directv. The photo doesn't show the blaster cable (emitter cable that goes to the settop box infra-red window). And the receiver is pretty generic. It's used on a huge number of products, so ignore the Picasso reference.

ASUS Republic of Gamers G51J-3D 15.6-Inch 3-D Gaming Laptop (Black) Review

ASUS Republic of Gamers G51J-3D 15.6-Inch 3-D Gaming Laptop (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Had this laptop for nearly a month, and my experience with it ranges from 2 to 5 stars, depending on what I'm doing. I was considering giving this 3 stars overall, but considering the price, I think it deserves a 4 star, though it really depends what you intend to do with this laptop. Note that this is a long review. I tried to summarize everything in the first sentence of each bullet so people can skim through it quickly if they aren't interested in the details.
Pros:
- Good value! An Alienware laptop with nearly identical specs cost about $1750 the last time I checked, and that's without 3D Vision (which retails for about $200), a second hard drive and only 1 yr warranty. Also, Amazon dropped the price, twice, since I bought this (probably trying to clear stock as G51JX-3D is coming out - almost identical computer except they replaced GTX 260M with GTS 360M, which is slightly weaker but runs cooler, and replaced the 2nd HDD slot with 2 RAM slots)
- Screen looks great! Not sure if it's the 120Hz or the LED backlight, but this screen blows my old laptop away (Compal FL90). A lot of my games look noticeably better on this screen (not because of extra fps, I'm talking about old games where my old laptop runs great as well)
- 3D was surprisingly good! 3D actually was not the primary reason I bought this laptop, so I wasn't expecting much from it. But I totally don't regret getting the 3D (I wanted a G51J-A1, but you can't buy them brand new anymore - I wanted the 2nd Hard drive, which is not available on the G51JX-A1 - the replacement for the G51J) For those that see a lot of flicker in 3D, try turning up your screen brightness - when my screen is near 100% brightness, the flicker completely goes away for me and my wife. I've put additional comments on games I got to work in 3D at the bottom of this review.
- 2 hard drive bays in a 15". I couldn't find a single other 15" laptop out there with 2 hard drives. Useful if you want to have a solid state hard drive (SSD) but don't want to shell out $400+ for a 160GB SSD (I got the $200-ish Intel 80GB SSD for running the OS and some of the newer games and stuck all my old games and documents on the 2nd HDD).
- Full-sized back-lit keyboard. The back-lit keyboard is actually pretty cool and is actually useful when playing 3D - the shutter glasses make everything look darker like sunglasses do when active. The backlight makes it a lot easier to find the keys.
- Runs graphics-intensive games fluidly. I ran Oblivion, everything on max on max resolution (which is only 1366x768 on this laptop though) with 3D on, went outdoor and the scenery looked awesome! Didn't measure the framerate, but didn't notice any stuttering at all, even during combat (CPU-intensive games are a different matter though, read the Non-G51J-3D Specific Cons section).
- Driver disc lets you select what bloatware to install. If you reinstall Windows 7 using the recovery disc, the first time you boot up, the drivers disc lets you select what bloatware to install, instead of forcing you to install everything then uninstall stuff you don't want (drivers disc is bugged though, see Cons section). There're actually a number of useful programs, but still a lot of bloat imo.
- Lots of ports. Has modem, LAN, VGA, HDMI, card reader, e-SATA and 4 USB (might have missed some, check the official specs). There're 2 USBs on each side of the laptop, so you don't have to worry about a big USB device blocking off all your ports. However, you'll probably end up using all four at once most of the time: 1 for mouse, 1 for 3D IR emitter, 1 for laptop cooler (strongly recommend one), leaving only 1 USB left for your flash drive.
Cons:
- GPU comes underclocked. Probably due to heat and power consumption issues. You can easily clock the GPU back up to NVIDIA's stock clock using the latest Forceware, but then you'll need to watch the temperature much more carefully.
- CPU throttling. The CPU supposedly throttles (or clocks down) if the laptop draws too much power. I haven't yet observed this in any of my games, so I can't comment much. Google "asus g51j throttling" for more info. Note that various other gaming laptops have similar issues, including the Alienware m15x.
- Heat. This is an issue with all gaming laptops, but is particularly an issue with this model. Running Furmark at 1366x768 in a room at 20C resulted in the GPU running up to 94C for me (no cooling, though adding my targus cooling fan only trimmed 2C from that). I think the GPU can take that kinda temperature, and real-world gaming is usually less intense than Furmark, but when summer comes and my room is near 30C, this will become an issue. Also, the CPU shares the same heatsink as the GPU, though I never managed to push the CPU above the mid 70C, even when running Prime95 or Cinebench.
- Warranty void if sticker removed. There's a sticker over the heatsink saying that warranty is void if removed, so basically, I can't replace the thermal compound on the CPU and GPU to help with the heat issue without voiding my warranty >.>
- BIOS is extremely basic. I'm using the unofficial BIOS version that supposedly fixed the BSOD issue (google "G51J BSOD fix"). The only useful thing you can do in the BIOS is changing the boot order. No turning off hyperthreading, setting clock speeds or anything you'd expect a regular BIOS to have (and I'm not aware of any secret key combos that unlocks more advanced functions). Not an issue if you never mess with the BIOS, but rather disappointing for people that want to squeeze more performance out of their machines.
- Low battery life. To be expected for a gaming laptop, though the battery life on this computer is particularly bad. I get slightly over 1 hour when doing actual work (minimum brightness, balanced power scheme, surfing the web, transferring files to and from a flash drive etc.) Others have reported squeezing out 1.5 hours on more aggressive power saving options. You can replace the 6-cell with a 9-cell battery from ASUS, though it's $169 the last time I checked, and it's out of stock. I'm planning to buy a universal external battery pack before I travel with this.
- VGA out sucks, though luckily HDMI works. I've read a number of reviews online before I bought this, and I'm surprised no one brought this up, so maybe I just got a lemon. The VGA connector on my G51J-3D is very loose and flickers majorly when I connect it to my TV. The exact same cable and TV gave me flawless display on my old laptop, so I know the issue is the connector. HDMI works fine and looks great, so it's not the GFX card either (the computer won't detect my TV on HDMI without a reboot though, can't figure out whether it's Windows 7, my TV or the laptop causing problems). If you're thinking of connecting this to your old CRT monitor for 3D, it may not work out.
- Recovery discs are bugged. I tried reinstalling Windows on my new SSD which I swapped into the laptop, and when it asked for the drivers disc, it gave me a file not found error and I was forced to do a hard reboot as it won't move on. The reboot led to a BSOD. Using the recovery discs I created using ASUS's software didn't work either. Interestingly, the second time I tried the recovery discs (not the ones I made) turned out fine, so maybe it was just bad luck (still gave me the file not found error, but hard reboot did not lead to BSOD the second time. Windows 7 now running without problems on my SSD).
- Drivers disc doesn't respond once some drivers are installed. Not sure why, but when some drivers are installed, the drivers disc autorun no longer works - trying to view the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer will also result in a moving green bar that never stops moving. The workaround I found was to put the driver disc into a non-ASUS computer, copy all the contents over to the hard drive of the G51J, running setup.exe from the hard drive solved the problem.
- Lid design and lighting. I'm in the camp that hates the lights, especially the fact that you can NOT turn off the lights on this model unless you open up the laptop and cut some wires (for the record, I also do not like the alien head of Alienware, or anything on the lid that screams "hey, look at me!"). The lights blink when the laptop is in sleep mode, so I usually shut down instead of sleep (boot time is slightly over 1 min with my SSD). The upside is that the real thing looks less ugly than the pictures imo - it's darker and doesn't look as flashy from a distance.
- Size is more like a 16" rather than 15". However, the hardware packed into this thing usually results in a 17", so maybe you can say the size is more like a 16" rather than a 17".
- Looks like it'll be replaced by the G51JX-3D. The JX is supposed to come out around now. The G51J-A1 has been replaced by the G51JX-A1 already. As described earlier, the JX trades 2nd HDD for more RAM and trades the underclocked GTX 260M with a higherclocked GTS 360M (benchmarks show that they're actually comparable surprisingly, though GTX 260M at stock clock will still outperform the 360M, assuming you don't fry your computer). If you think you need 6GB RAM or more or don't care about the 2nd HDD, you may want to wait (the JX is not on Amazon yet, but you can pre-order it at various resellers). If you want the 2nd HDD, might want to buy the J soon before retailers start stocking up on the JX variant.
Non-G51J-3D Specific Cons:
- This section contains cons that are specific to all computers using these components, not just the G51J-3D
- Windows 7 incompatiblity. Certainly not as bad as when I first started using Vista, but I...Read more›

AM / FM / HD Radio Outdoor Antenna (Model AFHD-4) Probably the Best Ever AM/FM Antenna for Every Home Theater Receiver.
Average Reviews:

It does work. Other AM/FM antennas like Terk and others do not work. My home is in a dead zone for both AM and FM. For some reason, cheap portable radios work and so does the car, but my expensive home stereo receivers only catch one FM and ZERO AM stations. I bought a Terk antenna...didn't work. AAUGH! I need my sports radio. Need to listen to Hawaii football! Go Warriors!
As a last resort, I bought this and it worked. I still don't get all the local radio stations, but now I get 6 FM stations and several AM stations...best of all I can now listen to sports radio on my home stereo.

Latte Café 32 GB Video MP3 Player with 4.3-Inch Touchscreen -- Amazon.com Exclusive (Silver) Review

Latte Café 32 GB Video MP3 Player with 4.3-Inch Touchscreen -- Amazon.com Exclusive (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used latte's products and very satisfied with this little-knwon company's product.
First thing I would like to mention is that they have a very good customer service. I had my Ice 8GB mp3 player that I accidentally broke the screen and the latte replaced the whole unit to the new one.
Now I needed more memory space to upload my home videos and found this latte on Amazon. Ice 8GB is now passed to my son and I got this 32GB mp3 plus the 16GB extra memory. I uploaded most of my home videos(about 40GB) and still have plenty of memory space left for the music. My husband is using the Archos 60GB harddrive mp3 player, but now he wants this latte 32GB cafe mp3 because the response time is a lot faster than the Archos. My husband is telling me that it is becuase of the memory: flash memory should run faster than the harddrive memory.
*Screen: Very sensetive touch screen. Unlike ipod touch, cafe mp3 requires the double click to activate any buttons or lists. But for the price that is around half of the ipod touch 32GB(nowadays, it is around $399), I am very impressed about the quality of this cafe.
*There are not many choice for the high capacity mp3 and the prices are too expensive. I had my research on the high capacity mp3's and found ipod touch($399), Archos 60GB($269) , Sansa($175 but not touch screen and small screen), Zen($235 but not a touch screen), cowon($269.99), and latte cafe($189).
*Sound: reasonable sound quality. pretty much same sound as my previous latte Ice mp3 player(of course, they are from the same company ^_^)
*Video: I am very happy that I can now carry all of my home videos with me. cafe has TV connection feature but I haven't tested.
*Accessories: Nice leather case and the touch pen. Also, the good earphone.
I think the other 32GB mp3s are very overpriced compare to this latte. I hope my review helps.

Remote Control Timer Set Review

Remote Control Timer Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this timer about a month ago and have been completely satisfied with the setup, the performance and the features. Though I only have one appliance currently programmed into it (a lamp), I intend to replace my other programmable timers with one of these when they cease to function properly.
The instructions to set up this timer were very clear and logical.
The timer has performed without any trouble, which is great considering I live in a high lightning strike area. There have been no glitches in the programming of the timer.
The remote is a great feature. I keep it next to me as I read or watch TV and if the lamp shuts off when I still need it I just hit the "on" button and presto! I have light again. Lazy? Maybe...but it is so convenient to continue working or reading uninterrupted.
I have the lamp programmed to come on so that a light is shining when my alarm goes off in the morning. If I choose instead to sleep a bit later I just hit the "off" button from the remote and don't have to actually get up and turn the switch or bend down and search for the timer's off button. Very handy! Oh, and I tested the distance for the remote, and though I cannot attest to the distance that Smarthome claims (just because my home is not that long) I could turn the lamp on and off from anywhere in my home that I tested it.
If you are in need of a timer with multiple options for turning lights/appliances on and off, this is the one for you. This is very practical and very useful.

I bought these speakers originally to use with my IPod, and it works great. Now we use them any time we have the TV on to watch the game outside or listen to music from the stereo inside to the deck outside. These are great!! I highly recommend them. You can move each speaker into a different room if you want. You can take them anywhere! You can either plug them into an outlet or put batteries in them. Works through walls too. If you try and play music or the TV - one note of advice: make sure the volume is up loud enough to transmit the signal. You will know when it is loud enough when the green light on receiver is lit.

Griffin Technology RadioShark AM / FM Desktop Radio with Time-Shift Recording Review

Griffin Technology RadioShark AM / FM Desktop Radio with Time-Shift Recording
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I already have a couple software programs that will automatically record and save radio programming but when the Radio Shark was announced, I couldn't resist. Mac elegance, simplicity and functionality. Or so I thought. The product is solid, well made and the software is easy to use. Unfortunately, the reception is unacceptably poor in my suburban, residential area. Every radio I own from clock radios, a couple Tivoli Pal's, a built in-whole house system, mini-systems and so on receive programming easily. The Radio Shark's reception is inferior to even the lowliest of portables. I've tried everything I can think of. Coiling the USB cable, moving it to every place within reach, using a high dollar shielded usb extension cable which also allowed me to move the Shark further from the computer), using the Radio Shark's headphone input with a pair of ear buds and a minijack to rca cable (as Griffin's website suggests). Nothing seems to help. I have two other radios within 18 inches of computers and they were pretty easy to set up and receive clear, static free programming. The Radio Shark has been a huge disappointment. I should have learned my lesson after purchasing the Power Mate from this company. The Power mate (ditto for the Radio Shark) is very high quality piece of hardware from a fit and finish standpoint but the software was glitchy with a pc. Maybe it would have been better with a mac. But I digress. Perhaps if you live far from all urban and suburban interference or live on a hill with better line of site to the towers you want to receive from, the Radio Shark might be fine. For the rest of us, the Radio Shark is likely to disappoint. If you want to time shift radio programming, I can recommend two excellent pieces of software. High Criteria's Total Recorder Pro (for the pc) and Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack Pro for the Mac. I don't work for or profit from either comany. I use both on a daily basis. Both are rock solid. All you need to do is connect a radio to your pc or mac and you're set.

Sennheiser Wireless EW 100ENG G2 Microphone System Review

Sennheiser Wireless EW 100ENG G2 Microphone System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a television producer/director using two Panasonic HVX200's at 24P and this Sennheiser wireless microhone. Thus far, we've shot 5 indoor/outdoor shows for two series with the microphone and I must say it's quite impressive. I'm not an audio expert but I know when something's working well. What's amazing to me is that these units use only two 1.5 volt AA batteries each AND the batteries generally last an entire 12 hour day! I have a 9V battery based Samson wireless microphone system that's downright voltage thirsty by comparison. (I have to replace the Samson batteries every couple of hours.) The sound quality of the Sennheiser is consistently excellent at various ranges with only an occasional audio hit or dropout. The main tme we've experienced the hits are when our subject is further away; say 75 feet or so. On those occasions, we've remedied the problem by either switching frequencies or by positioning the transmitter or receiver on a more direct line-of-sight orientation.
The construction of the mic and receiver are solid, top drawer all the way. I have NOT read the thick instruction manual, nor do I intend to. My cameraman knows enough to be able to change frequencies when need be, so that's fine by me.
So, in summary, this is an excellent microphone system. It works equally well indoors or out. The quality of the sound we've recorded with it is exceptional. Don't hesitate to make this your primary wireless microphone purchase.

This is the absolute worst remote control that I have ever owned or operated. I spent $13.00 on this remote and $7.00 for shipping. The remote came with a dead battery so I had to go to Radio Shack and spend $5.00 plus tax on a Lithium CR 2025 battery. After investing $25.00 into a this remote control and struggling to comprehend the instructions that were written in broken English, I quickly discovered that the remote not only works intermittently, but only works within two feet of the usb receiver which renders it worthless for the purpose for which it is intended. This product is virtually worthless. I looks like I got what I paid for. I suggest to anyone looking for a computer remote control to spend at least $50 to get a remote control that actually works.

Eforcity DVI-I Male to VGA Female Display Adapter with Gold Plated Contacts for PC/MAC Review

Eforcity DVI-I Male to VGA Female Display Adapter with Gold Plated Contacts for PC/MAC

This is a very handy piece of hardware to have around if you fix computers and only have a VGA monitor. I bought one of these for my ex-gf's computer because she has a desktop with DVI out from the dedicated graphics, but only has a VGA monitor. This made it so that her and her son could use the faster dedicated GPU to play games, rather than with the integrated graphics.
The only thing that could have been better is if they sent the product in a bubble wrapped envelope. It came in just a thin plastic bag, which made the product more susceptible to damage. Luckily, it came in mint condition.

Apple iPod classic 120 GB Silver (6th Generation) Review

Apple iPod classic 120 GB Silver (6th Generation)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The updated iPod Classic was probably the least exciting of the new iPods announced in the September 2008 update, but that does not mean it should be dismissed.
I own the 160 GB iPod Classic that has now been discontinued, but there are few differences (perhaps the biggest being the much slimmer shape of this 120 model), and I did get to check this updated 120 GB version out at the store, when picking up the new nano and touch.
Firstly, the 120 GB version is again smaller than the largest capacity available last year, but it is a single platter hard drive, which allows it to maintain the slim shape of the 80 GB version from last year. More storage, a hundred dollars less, and just as small. That is progress despite calls from others that the classic isn't exciting. It still serves its purpose as the original iPod idea. Big capacity in a simple to use device.
Next, the software has been slightly updated on the iPod Classic. It now includes Genius, like iTunes and the other new iPods. This allows you, when on a song you enjoy, to select the genius feature. The iPod will then compile a list of songs (playlist), which goes together with the original song you were listening to. This helps you rediscover music in your library, with a playlist to fit your mood at the time. I have been using the genius feature for a few days now, and it is impressive the way it compiles these playlists. I was skeptical, but overall, it does a good job. Furthermore, as another review mentioned, the iPod does seem more responsive with this update from what I saw at the store compared to my original 160 GB iPod Classic. Some speculation has been that the older iPod Classics will receive the software update of this new one, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
Overall, the original iPod concept was so good, and that is why the iPod Classic is still a solid choice for a music and media player. It will hold thousands and thousands of songs (up to 30,000 according to Apple at 128 bitrate). I also backup some important files to my iPod Classic, in disk mode, so that I have that additional extra copy of my most vital files. When you have such a large iPod, you can do that. It shouldn't be forgotten either that while the display of the iPod Classic isn't as good as the iPod Touch or iPhone, it is still quite good and you can play music videos, TV shows, and movies purchased on the iTunes Store.
Battery life for this new 120 GB model improved over the 80GB model from last year. Apple now estimates it at 36 hours audio and 6 hours video.
I'd recommend the iPod Classic without hesitation, to those who have more than 8 or 16 GBs of music in their iTunes library and want to carry their entire collection. Furthermore, if you have videos and video podcasts you want to always carry with you, again, you can't beat the storage. I have the lower capacity flash devices as well, but the big hard drive based iPod Classic continues to play an important role in my iPod Collection.

Koss HB60 Infrared Clip-On Wireless Headphones Review

Koss HB60 Infrared Clip-On Wireless Headphones
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The best part of the Koss HB60 is that you can plug any standard headphone jack into the infrared receiver. Thus, with the HB60 you can convert any of the headphones that you already own (and love) to wireless usage.
The worst part about the Koss HB60 is the headphone that it comes with. This thing is designed to be clipped onto your ears, and boy, do they hurt after about 5 minutes! These headphones also have a very strong high frequency boost (which seems to be the standard "Koss sound" - headphones for people with high frequency hearing loss). If you have never listened to Koss headphones, you might think that this hissing sound is due to poor infrared transmission. IMHO, Koss should lower the price of the Koss HB60 and just sell it without this bad headphone.
When I plugged my two Sennheiser headphones (HD545 and HD570) into the Koss HB60, they both sounded great! I can't tell that there is much difference between plugging these headphones directly into the computer/player versus plugging into the Koss HB60. There is very little hissing noise with the Sennheiser headphones plugged in as long as the receiving unit is facing the transmitter directly and located less than about 8 feet away or so. Turn the receiver to face another direction and the hissing increases only slightly, as the receiver picks up the reflected signal off the walls of the room. Step out of the room, or go to a part of the room where the transmitter is not sending any infrared beams, and the signal is completely replaced by static.
The Koss HB60 amplifies the input signal quite a bit, about 4-5 times as loud. This is great if your input signal is fairly weak, such as can happen with some cheap CD players or computers. However, because of this high gain, the amplifier of the Koss HB60 will saturate on the louder pieces of music if you set the input signal strength too high. This will sound like bursts of irregular high frequency static coming through. However, if you set the input signal too low, then there is a slight increase in the hissing sound. So you have to adjust the input signal carefully.
The only really annoying thing about the Koss HB60 is that the belt clip is located directly over the cover for the two AAA batteries. However, the clip is detachable, which, as I only discovered recently, is the real trick to changing batteries on this thing - pull the belt clip off first!
So I took off one star, but otherwise the Koss HB60 is a fine product as long as you understand the inherent limitations of this form of wireless transmission.
I got the Koss HB60 because I wanted to listen to headphones while stringing tennis racquets.I do the stringing in our family computer room, so I can't use the computer speakers most of the time when others are working in the room. The racquet stringing requires some moving around, but mostly I am standing facing in one direction. Thus, I can clip the receiver to the collar of my shirt so that it mostly faces the transmitter. Before, I had plugged the Sennheisers into one of the computers in the same room through an extension cord. This long line was always very messy and easy to step on or get entangled. I ruined at least two of the Sennheiser headphone cords in this fashion by stepping on them and jerking them until they developed an internal break in the wires. Now I can listen to the Sennheisers without worrying about the cord.

Boyo VTC461R Rear-view System Wireless rear-view camera and 6" color mirror monitor Review

Boyo VTC461R Rear-view System Wireless rear-view camera and 6 color mirror monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought an expensive system to adapt the built-in nav system on one of my cars so that it would display the picture from a rear-view camera. I really liked the results, as did my wife, but that was a $500 adventure with no labor cost.
So when I thought about adding a rear view camera to an older mini-van which lacked a nav screen I was distressed to find that I might be looking at $1000 or more to install a good size screen.
So I tried a cheaper solution: a "wireless system" with a 3.5" screen, which cost about $100. Really a disappointing result, as the picture was way too small, and was dim and the "wireless" aspect didn't work reliably.
[You need to understand that "wireless" means no cable between the camera and the screen. There's still a lot of wiring to be done: the camera needs to be wired to 12v, to ground and to the back-up lights. And you need to run power to the screen. All you really get to skip is running the cable from the back to the dashboard area, a considerable labor savings, but at a big sacrifice in quality and reliability.]
Also the field of view of the cheaper system was much smaller than the one on my other car.
So I kept looking and this Boyo system had some good comments so I took a chance on it. My overall rating is that it's a good mid-point between the $100 system and something MUCH more expensive.
Pros:
Big screen.
Mounts over rear view mirror so the placement is much better than on the dash or on a visor.
A BIG surprise: the kit includes the ability to install as either wired or "wireless", which is not mentioned in the product description. (I did the wired version.)
Works well in low light.
Good field of view (pointed so you can see edge of bumper, it also shows to a distance of 12 feet.)
Sturdy camera enclosure, with adjustable camera angle.
Provides for a second video input.
Cons:
Like most LCD's, somewhat dim during day, especially if you're wearing polarized sunglasses.
Quite grainy in very low light situations.
This unit functions as the rear view mirror when the car is not in reverse, and it's darker/dimmer than the stock mirror.
The display is about one inch thick and fairly heavy, and it vibrates a little as a result, which further degrades its performance as a rear view mirror.
So it's not as good as an OEM unit, and the normal rear view mirror function is degraded (which may be a deal-breaker for you) but it performs MUCH better than anything I've seen in this price range.

Creative Zen MX 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black) Review

Creative Zen MX 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have both the older 8gb Zen (2007) and a new 16gb Zen MX. They are basically the same except that the MX has integrated access to the removable SD card directly from the Creative Centrale software that comes with the it. With the old Zen you had to go into a removable card menu on the Zen and then access the card via the computer operating system to add or delete files. Zen MX also does not have the code for some video formats and the software has to convert them before transfer to the Zen MX; on the old Zen you could just transfer the video files directly to the Zen. Finally, the Creative Centrale software that comes with the new Zen MX does not seem as intuitive and user friendly as the older software that came with the Zen. If I had to do it again I would have bought the older Zen rather than the new Zen MX, but the older ones are becoming hard to find and are a lot more expensive. Strangely enough the 16gb version of the old Zen is more expensive than the 32gb version!
To answer those who said the Zen MX will not play DRM protected files. Not true. It will play DRM9 protected files, but they have to be put on the Zen via the transfer function in the software, not through drag & drop, because the former also carries over the license info and the latter technique does not. Creative notes this on their web site.
